Outmazethemaze

<OUTMAZE THE MAZE> is a synesthetic maze experience in which two players divide vision and hearing between them. Each participant views the maze from their own perspective on a monitor, while spatialized audio conveys the footsteps generated by the other player through headphones.

With seeing and hearing separated, players must infer each other’s locations using incomplete sensory information. Vision reveals the environment, while hearing reveals the presence of the other.

Through the use of a controller, players engage three different sensory systems simultaneously: vision, hearing, and bodily perception. The work experiments with an alternative mode of cognition, exploring how the body and the inner mind work together to construct an understanding of space, presence, and others.

As players navigate the maze in search of one another, the experience becomes more than a game of orientation. It is an exploration of perception, intuition, and the relationship between sensory information and human awareness.
